According to reports a Metro Blue Line light rail train struck a bus
The passengers and the operator of the train sustained minor injuries according to Luis Inzunza a spokes person for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The injured passengers and operator were transported to the hospital.
Another spokes person for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Marc Littman stated that the accident occurred when an out of service bus also operated by them turned in front of the train.
According to Inzunza the area that the collision occurred in the speed for the electric train was 35 miles per hour. He also stated that the out of service bus was being driven by a mechanic at the time of the crash. in the Long Beach downtown area. This collision occurred during the morning commute and injured 14 passengers when one of the cars derailed. The collision knocked the front car off of the track and the other cars stayed on the track.
